Dr. Mercurio is Professor of Pediatrics, Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and Director of the Program for Biomedical Ethics at Yale School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemical Sciences from Princeton University, and an M.D. from Columbia University. Pediatrics Residency and Neonatology Fellowship were completed at Yale, as well as a Master’s Degree in Philosophy from Brown University. He has for many years been active in medical ethics education for residents, fellows, nurses, attending physicians, medical students and others, at Yale and elsewhere. He has been an invited speaker nationally and internationally on ethical issues in pediatrics, and publications have appeared in Pediatrics, the Hastings Center Report, American Journal of Bioethics, Seminars in Perinatology, Journal of Medicine and Philosophy, Journal of Pediatrics and the Journal of Perinatology. .
