I’ve been in the engineering field for more than 30 years and have worked on designing and developing products such as engine valve train components, commercial vehicle suspensions, fifth wheels, trailer suspensions, and landing legs. Always amazed at how much of what you learned on one product can be applied to another. I’ve found I’m most passionate about designing and developing commercial vehicle air suspensions. I’m an extrovert engineer so able to look at others shoes so was able to transition into the roles of product and account management but still drift into the engineering lane as much as possible.I’ve found that to be a successful design engineer you need to have a great understanding of all the manufacturing processes available and have been very fortunate to have traveled to many suppliers around the world to learn about their processes. I’ve even toured many steel mills and processing centers to better understand the more about steel which is my favorite medium. In my free time I enjoy kiteboarding, beach volleyball, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), long walks on any beach, and drinking some beers with my wife after a long day of hard work and play. Is it odd that I think about suspension design while kiteboarding?
