Operations Support - Northern Finish

I assisted the Operations Manager to manage 5 fish trap vessels targeting Goldband Snappers (Pristipomoides spp.), Red Snappers (Lutjanus malabaricus, L. erythropterus) and Grouped species in the Timor Reef Fishery (TRF) north of Darwin. Here I developed skills crew and vessel management, and fishery reporting and management. I also undertook research to increase efficiency of our vessels to maximise landings and profitability, as well as assisting the Northern Territory Fisheries Department to accurately record total landings and manage quota. Furthermore, I engaged with oil and gas companies to seek compensation for loss of catch due to seismic testing in the TRF.Within this role I spent time at sea in the Timor Reef fishery on trap vessels targeting Goldband Snappers, Red Snappers, and Grouped species, and in the Gulf of Carpentaria on vessels targeting Banana Prawns (P. merguiensis).
