Mechanical Design Section Chief
Current- Serves as Chief of the Mechanical Section responsible for all mechanical reviews and/or inhousedesign work for both Host Nation and US funded projects in support of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, andother official agencies in Japan.- Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates staff of US Civilians and Japanese personnel to includeestablishment of priorities and preparation of schedules for completion of design work. Assigns work to andevaluates performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, and instructions to individual employees on bothwork and administrative matters as necessary.-Develop performance plans and IDPs for employees. Conduct annual performance ratings and mid year reviewsof employees.-Perform Bidability/Constructability reviews on a multitude of US funded projects with annual contract value ofover $1B. I provide value added design comments in compliance with building codes and DOD regulations andindustry standards. Emphasized providing clear, technically competent, and focused comments with theobjective of more consistency in designs, improved energy efficiency, reduce capital and O&M costs, as well asimproving clarity and quality of design documents. Received very positive feedback from the AE ProjectManager, mechanical DOR, and users that my reviews and input were highly valuable to the projects.-Perform hiring actions to recruit new staff including review of candidate resumes, interviews, and selection. Actas sponsor for new hires during onboarding and moving from CONUS to Japan.
