Research interests include mergers and acquisitions, management of professional service firms, the impact of digitization end emerging technology on professions, industry level change, the use of simulations in education and sustainability accounting. The Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship (AGSE) at Swinburne University is commencing delivery of the innovative Master of Financial Technologies (Fintech) in early 2018. My role as course director is to work with industry representatives and academic experts to coordinate the development and delivery of a highly relevant Masters degree that positions graduates to succeed in a changing financial services world. This includes providing knowledge and skills to assist incumbent financial service companies to respond to opportunities and disruptive threats associated with emerging technologies or to work with the start ups seeking to disrupt them. The first phase of the Masters, the Graduate Certificate in Fintech, has been launched for delivery in first semester of 2018 with the Master of FinTech approved to flow on from the Graduate Certificate. As Associate Professor of Accounting at the business school, I teach accounting fundamentals and advanced management accounting to undergraduate and post graduate students. Research interests include management of, and innovation in, professional service firms and industry changes and responses in financial services, such as the introduction of open banking.

Mark also assisted in strategic planning and business case development.Recent projects include: - assisting a group of State based professional associations to develop a business case for a national merger, - developing a business continuity plan for a legal practice, - assisting a financial services company to utilise Activity Based Costing to understand the cost of activities and products, - developing and implementing new customer services processes for a government department,- reviewing customer service and intelligence unit structures for a government department,- performing customer and product profitability analysis for a national food manufacturer.
