My role has two key towers :Technical Platforms : Accountable for the Global Operations of the IST Trading Application Estate. Consuming ‘compute’ from the BP Global Infrastructure Delivery organisation and Public Cloud providers and turning this into application platforms to support the global trading business. This includes optimised multi tenanted application platforms; database services; trading specific application technology stacks and elastic compute capability from the public cloud. With teams in key trading locations globally and our offshore partner my team underpins the operation of the 24x7 business and supports the software manufacturing process of the development teams. Our mission is the continued optimisation of server consumption and compute, and the delivery of innovation in the platforms to our customers. Customer Platforms : User facing technologies to support the Front office and wider commercial organisation. This includes Messaging and ESB technologies, mobile, Elastic Grid Computing, Big Data Analytics through Hadoop based data lake technology, and support for the broader analytics community across the business front to back. These platforms are run for common consumption for all consumers and provide the backbone services to the business. P&E increasingly follows the DevOps pattern of delivery with our customers and is driven by a high automation high capability approach using a mix of BP and Partners resources.
