A data scientist, researcher and leader with broad expertise in advancing healthcare through data. I enable data-driven decision support, organisational optimisation and medical discovery. I am an experienced team leader, an innovator of new data science methodologies, and routinely apply computational modelling, statistics and machine learning in advancing healthcare. I am highly personable, and have a strong aptitude for engaging stakeholders and mentoring my team.I have technical expertise in Python, R, Java, Matlab, supervised and unsupervised ML, scientific computing, image processing, test driven development, object-oriented programming, functional programming, docker, git, bash & Unix systems. I have won over AU$1m in competitive grants, written over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications, led a research group, and given both deeply technical and widely accessible presentations to academic communities, my peers and the general public. It is my passion to improve lives and society by realising the opportunities and insights that data hold. Earlier in my career I worked in swarm robotics, developing underwater environment simulations and control algorithms through which a shoal of underwater robots would coordinate to explore their environment and maintain a physical "chain" link of robots to the surface.
