Mark Read is a wildlife biologist and conservation manager who specialises in the conservation, management and sustainable use of species and habitats. Success in this field only comes from working closely with other government agencies, Traditional Owners and stakeholders to develop practical and pragmatic ways of minimising the impact of human-related activities on these natural and cultural values. Mark is also involved in intervention and adaptive management of habitats and species, including reef rehabilitation and island revegetation projects.Mark has extensive experience with the media and strives to deliver easy-to-understand messages about the conservation and management of nature and natural resources. Mark has a background and active interest in expedition and wilderness medicine, particularly the biology, ecology and toxicology of venomous terrestrial and marine fauna.
