Director, The School Of Music
Provided direction and leadership for the school consisting of more than six-hundred students and fifty faculty members. Responsibilities included: Supervising, recruiting and hiring faculty, staff and visiting artists; developing and managing the budget; developing programming for adults and children; overseeing all contractual obligations; overseeing the maintenance and security of the facility; recommending and overseeing capital improvements; and collaborating with marketing and development departments to explore all possible strategies for promotion and fundraising. Key achievements: • Increased enrollment of the school by seventy-five percent • designed and initiated a music technology program (one of the first technology programs in a community music school in New York City)• created a residency program for the Young People’s Chorus of New York City• established an endowment fund for the Y Community Orchestra• created and produced a faculty recital series; and launched a new master class series presenting guest artists that included: Richard Goode, Martina Arroyo, Earl Wild, Elly Ameling, Claude Frank, Licia Albanese, Leon Fleisher, Gary Graffman, Anna Moffo, Constance Keene, Robert McDonald, Carol Wincenc, Menahem Pressler, Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, Warren Jones, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Lilian Kallir, Richard Hundley, and Jon Vickers
