Responsibilities include providing technical support on check processing equipment manufactured by OEM’s such as BancTec, NCR, Unisys and other manufactures both by phone and on-site throughout the US as necessary. This equipment typically consists of OCR readers, image cameras, MICR encoders, inkjet and dot matrix printers, microfilmers, tape and disk drives, and similar devices. Also am responsible for the complete refurbishment, testing, and installation of the above equipment for new and existing customer accounts. Second responsibility shipping parts to the customer and loading and unloading equipment for wherehousing ordering and stocking parts for the customer.

Various positions were held with BancTec over the 20 year period including Associate Customer Engineer, Customer Engineer, Senior Customer Engineer, and Engineer-in-Charge. Primary responsibility with each Customer Engineer position involved maintenance of BancTec manufactured payment and check processing transports utilizing the above mentioned devices. Additional responsibilities such as increased equipment models and additional customer sites increased with each advancement in the Customer Engineer positions. Later responsibilities included on-site repair at business and consumer homes on PC’s from manufactures such as Dell, AST, and Toshiba as BancTec moved into the third party maintenance field.Engineer-in-Charge responsibilities included the same duties as the Customer Engineer positions with the additional responsibility of supervising a group of 12 Customer Engineers’ daily maintenance activities. Was responsible for the scheduling and performance of third party calls as well as ensuring that the OEM business was performed as well. Was also responsible for personnel evaluations and salary recommendations. Parts inventory management including standard replenishment, emergency ordering, and defective material returns was also a priority of the Engineer-in-Charge position.
