Mark Ryan is a retired environmental attorney in Winthrop, Washington. Prior to retirement, Mark had a national practice that specialized in Clean Water Act (CWA) counseling and litigation. He worked as an attorney for the EPA from 1990 to 2014, where he was an active trial attorney and one of EPA's leading experts on the CWA. Mr. Ryan has written and spoken extensively about the CWA. He is the long-standing editor of the American Bar Association’s Clean Water Act Handbook, the author of the Clean Water Act Digest, and he was for years a member of the ABA’s Natural Resources and Environment magazine editorial board. Mark received his B.S. in natural resources from the University of Michigan and studied environmental policy at the University of Tübingen, Germany, as a University of Michigan Tübingen Fellow. Mr. Ryan received his law degree in 1988 from Indiana University School of Law (cum laude), where he was an editor of the Indiana Law Journal.
