As an innovation device specialist for the TRAILS program, my duties include designing, building, and maintaining adaptive sporting equipment such as sit ski's, nordic and downhill, sailboat kayaks, and portable aquatic docking systems that have been modified for persons with complex injuries and disabilities to use. Computer aided design software is a big component of my job in creating and designing specifically engineered components to adapt this equipment for this population of individuals. I assist the lead engineer in assembling the necessary electrical components to operate automated systems on these devices as they are not available off the shelf systems. My main role, however, is based in manufacturing and machining new parts and sub-systems as this is where my past work experience along with my current education in mechanical engineering is very strong.

This involved routine quality assurance measurements of the product, pre and post production, using precise measurement devices.
