Operations Specialist
CurrentMaintain and promote a safe and environmentally compliant working environment. This includes utilizing proper PPE, following all Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines and actively participating in safety meetings and discussions. Enter information from process into our business software, SAP, and onto process log sheets. This includes process conditions and analytical results. Interface with many functional groups: Maintenance, Process Engineering, Process Control Engineering, Project Engineering, R&D, Shipping & Logistics, and Contractors. Serve as the main responsible party for the safety work permit procedures in the plant: Permit-to Work, Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work, and Confined Space Entry. Utilize information from process and analytical tools to operate equipment per operating procedures to produce consistent, quality controlled material and according to schedule. Multi-task, operating several pieces of equipment simultaneously. Make process adjustments as needed based on information gathered from a variety of sources. Analyze and interpret samples mostly via gas chromatograph. Possess a working knowledge of the controls in my specific area. Be knowledgeable and capable of process / equipment troubleshooting and recommending/implementing corrective actions as required. Communicate effectively with supervisor and peers. Identify and share continuous improvement ideas that may enhance process, safety and cost reduction. Undertake and successfully complete training and development activities. Provide training for others as required. Be available on on-call hours. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping. Respond to emergencies plant wide (injuries, process upsets, fires). Function as an Incident Commander if required. Perform minor maintenance activities, as necessary.In a back-up role, unload and/or load bulk incoming/outgoing trucks when required. Participate actively in PHA efforts for his/her equipment.
