Mark S. Email and Phone Number
I am a faith-based, family-oriented individual with a focused passion for excellence. I graduated cum laude from Northeastern State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science.I did not follow the typical high school to college then career trajectory plan. I worked a handful of odd jobs trying to figure out who I was, where I fit, and what direction I was going.I met my late wife, Holly, while pursuing a college degree in March 2003. We married in June 2004 and quickly started a family.Holly had an established career at Southwest Airlines, and when my son John was born, we collectively decided I would be the primary caretaker because of her unpredictable working hours. I became a stay-at-home dad working as a full-time parent. The birth of my daughter Catherine soon followed.Between 2005 and 2010, I continued to work odd jobs as necessary to supplement Holly’s income. During that time, I noticed I had an inclination towards software development companies and an aptitude for programming. When the housing market crashed in 2008, gainful employment in the software development industry became more challenging without an undergraduate degree.Between 2011 and 2019, I spent extended periods at home with my children, picking up the occasional short-term labor job until my daughter was thirteen.Between 2020 and 2023, I re-joined the workforce as an arborist operations crew member until June 2020, when my position was cut due to COVID-19. In April 2020, Holly was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Caring for her through her cancer journey became my full-time responsibility until her passing in January 2022. After several months of grief, I focused on obtaining an undergraduate degree in computer science, building upon my natural inclination and aptitude for the field. In 2024 I graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a 4.0 department GPA.The sum of my life experiences has made me attentive to detail, diligent, and highly motivated. I thrive in engaging and collaborative environments. Beyond my dedication to professional development, I am committed to physical fitness, enjoying a healthy outdoor lifestyle, and cultivating new experiences as an avid trout angler and travel enthusiast. In short, I am determined to make a positive impact and meaningful contribution to my community and sphere of influence by being open-minded and adaptable. I have a knack for troubleshooting and problem-solving, both personally and professionally.
