Having trained as a solicitor in a top-tier law firm in Dublin, I initially worked as an investment funds solicitor for two years before returning to Tullamore in 2018 to work in J.D. Scanlon & Company, a mid-size full service law firm which was founded by my father in 1989. As a solicitor with J.D. Scanlon & Company I have experience in all areas of general practice, focusing on litigation and property law. As a litigation solicitor I have represented individuals in matters including personal injuries claims, family law disputes, employment disputes, disputes relating to estates, disputes relating to land and debt collection.I have gained significant experience advising the Health Service Executive on the law regarding the care of the elderly. This includes advice with respect to the fair deal scheme, wardship matters and issues of capacity. I have been involved in complex wardship matters before the President of the High Court and have developed an in depth knowledge of the law regarding warship, capacity and the care of the elderly.I have worked closely with our banking department advising the Bank of Ireland in relation to lending to corporates and those in the agri-sector. This work involves review of complex title and advising on securitisation of assets by the lender.I am experienced in the area of licensing law. I have represented numerous pubic houses, hotels, restaurants and sports clubs in both the District and Circuit Court.
