Monitored a large number of violent incidents, largely in townships east of Johannesburg and conducted investigative work in KwaZulu-Natal. In 1994 seconded to newly established Human Rights Institute of South Africa (attached to the Goldstone Commission, a statutory commission of inquiry charged with investigating violence and possible security force involvement) as an analyst following up the recommendations made by the Commission.
