To make the system easier to host and more portable, the database platform has been moved from Oracle to open-source PostgreSQL and embedded Oracle package code rewritten in Python. I also led a major effort to transform the IT infrastructure within our Center, consolidating dozens of aging physical servers into virtual servers (hosted both by our group and by UM MiServer). Our key production servers for the HRA product were moved from physical servers to a state-of-the-art HIPAA compliant virtual service hosted by Online Tech, with VPN connectivity to our campus office and data center. -
