Head of the Technology Group at the University of Michigan, Heath Management Research Center (UM-HMRC) and member of the Leadership Team at the Center. UM-HMRC is a leader in heath and wellness research, providing scientifically validated products and services to over 200 organizations and millions of individuals.My primary role is leading the effort to create a strategic direction, develop new products, promote innovation and new ideas, and improve existing tools using the latest IT technology and practices, with a focus on improving the end-user experience. In addition, I manage the IT staff and the client project work of the Center, particularly Health Risk Assessments and Culture of Health offerings that are used by organizations world-wide and work with the research staff to meet the needs of analysis projects.Part of my recent efforts have been to design a new UM Health Risk Assessment (HRA) tool that includes a full REST/JSON API, a completely re-engineered database design, and new custom messaging and calculation methods, and HTML5-CSS3-Javascript responsive design user interface. To make the system easier to host and more portable, the database platform has been moved from Oracle to open-source PostgreSQL and embedded Oracle package code rewritten in Python. I also led a major effort to transform the IT infrastructure within our Center, consolidating dozens of aging physical servers into virtual servers (hosted both by our group and by UM MiServer). Our key production servers for the HRA product were moved from physical servers to a state-of-the-art HIPAA compliant virtual service hosted by Online Tech, with VPN connectivity to our campus office and data center.

Developed the core financial dashboard and revenue forecasting system, as well as key business metric reports (using PowerPivot tables/charts on SharePoint).Managed IT department and was lead software designer and programmer.Designed and developed all the enterprise survey data collection, analysis, and custom reporting tools for use in organizational culture, leadership 360 assessment and other programs used by all clients and available in over 40 languages. Part of the core system included designing and managing a SQL Server database system that maintains over 1 million survey respondents and reporting data. Larger design and software development projects included:* Integrated framework for managing all client organizations, survey projects, survey design, data and reporting.* Multilingual survey email invitation and automated reminder system, with automated bounce-back processing of returned emails. * Created 3Click Leadership 360 assessment web portal. * Automated reporting systems using SQL Server, Access, Excel with output to PDF or PowerPoint formats.* Survey designer to create and manage multilingual, time series web surveys, paper surveys and reporting.* Excel import and export utilities to for reporting and batch updating of database. * PDF to PowerPoint converter to create custom presentations from PDF reports.* Enterprise project management and financial tools, including live project/financial dashboard. * Live survey counts web dashboards for culture surveys and leadership 360 assessments.* Process for linking large client organizational data feeds to survey data process (email, organizational demographics, etc.).

It has clients world-wide, including several Fortune 100 organizations.As one of the initial group of people at the early stages of the company, I was a member of the leadership team, developed the core software system (patented as ACSI analytics modeling engine) and created/managed the largest department. Responsible for hiring most of the key employees, many of whom are still with CFI today.
