I came into the lumber industry in 2002 at Visscher Lumber where I started as a stacker. Before a year passed, I was promoted to outbound driver because of my drive to get things done fast and professionally. I drove outbound for about 5 years and the duties I performed where as follows: tally units. band up units and then wrap and put them away for shipping. I was then promoted to inbound driver (Lead Hand) and was in charge of a crew of 7 in a PET Cedar mill where I performed these duties: set up saws for PET lengths, set Baker saws up to resaw 2 x 4 in half, pulled staples from the wood to prevent nics on the moulded wood, gather wood from the dry shed from a pick list and sometimes digging wood out and returning unused wood, tallied, back to stock. I also assigned workers their positions for the day and am still a level 2 first aid attendant. I left Visscher Lumber in July of 2015 to take a position at Ivor Forest Products as a forklift operator but was soon promoted to shipping where I have been until October of 2021. I then took a forklift operating position at Kalesnikoff's Mass Timber Plant in the Kootenays and have been there since the middle of October. 😀
