Lead role for WWF-US on tuna, forage fish and other fisheries related to the WWF network’s Smart Fishing Initiative (SFI) to reform fisheries governance and Market Transformation Initiative (MTI) to reform seafood markets. Led WWF-US participation in WWF’s global Antarctic and Southern Ocean Initiative. Developed and advocated WWF’s global position on Antarctic krill fishery.

Directed NET’s campaign to educate chefs and consumers about the threats to Chilean Sea Bass as well as advocated international policy to protect the species. Built and managed diverse international coalitions. Developed campaign strategies to achieve improved fisheries management and to combat illegal fishing. Studied the corporate structures and chain of custody of the farmed shrimp, farmed salmon, tuna, and Pollock industries to develop a strategy for a seafood markets campaign. Coordinated the communications and North American strategy of the Antarctic Krill Conservation Project. Supervised a team of 4 international campaigners based in Argentina, South Africa, and Spain.

Developed campaign strategy and work plan for high-seas biodiversity conservation and served as Greenpeace representative on NGO coalitions to conserve high-seas biodiversity. Led Greenpeace US efforts to ensure that MSC-certified fisheries met high environmental standards. Coordinated a campaign to protect Gulf of Mexico marine resources.

Led an international coalition of NGOs campaigning for sustainable management of Antarctic fisheries. Coordinated comments of the conservation community on MSC certification of the South Georgia Patagonian toothfish fishery. Established and maintained relationships with US and other government officials responsible for policy regarding compliance with Regional Fisheries Management Organizations. Wrote grant proposals and reports; wrote and edited articles to publish in newsletters and partner organization publications.
