I am a qualified approved electrician. I worked as a maintenance electrician for Thorn Lighting in Enfield. I then worked as a technician for a company that sold electronic timers.At the age of 24 I took my first job in external sales. This was for an electrical wholesaler Eyre & Elliston. It was just called Ellistons Welwyn ltd back then.After 6 years I moved to working for a manufacturer as a sales engineer selling connectors. This was a company called Cembre. This was mostly selling into Electrical Wholesalers & Railway infrastructure.I enjoyed selling to the railway companies & moved to a Glenair as a sales engineer. Glenair are specialist manufacturer in the military & aerospace market. I gained specification of our rail connector via Railtrack .This led to orders of over half a million in the first year. After 7 years I moved back into electrical wholesale. Working for Eyre & Elliston for the next 12 years in the roles of Key Account manger, Business development manager, & branch manger. I left for 2 years working for an independent electrical wholesaler & WF who are part of the Senate group. The returned to Eyre & Elliston as a branch supervisor. After 3 years of working internally with a really good team , I wanted to get back out on the road again. I am now working for Europa Components as a Key Account Manager and looking forward to a new challenge! After 6 years in sales I was asked to take the role of Technical Services Manager. Then Custom Build Manager. I had moved away from from engineering to sales in my early 20's. The last 2 years reminded me why. As there was no opportunity to return to sales with Europa, I resigned after 8 years. I am looking forward to returning to sales as an OEM sales manager with Switchtec in November.
