Here and nowI lead the Public Sector Assurance Practice for Grant Thornton and have responsibility for the oversight of the team, and its work in the health and local government sectors.I have over 25 years of experience in working with public sector bodies, specialising in health and local government. My experience covers external audit, governance, accounting, financial management, financial planning, risk management, performance management, and alternative delivery models. Throughout my career I have worked with of some of the largest public sector bodies in the country.Nationally I also lead the Grant Thornton Health Group. I have a number of NHS Trust, Clinical Commissioning Group and Foundation Trust clients. I have worked with foundation trusts since their inception and continue to support my other NHS providers trust on their journey to foundation trust status. My particular specialisms in health are: audit, strategy, financial reporting, financial planning financial recovery, and governance .My other passion is local government and I work closely with a number of midlands authorities including Solihull, Wolverhampton and Shropshire. My specialisms in local government are business planning, financial management, performance management, and alternative delivery models.I am keen to add value to the sectors I work in and as such am delighted to have contributed to a number of our thought leadership reports in health and local government. We have recently issued reports on Health and Well Being Index, Business Location Index, Devolution, Audit Committee effectiveness and Alternative Delivery Models. We are looking to issue more thought leadership, good practice and guidance over the next 12 months.
