Design and build internal and external API endpoints to support New Relic's SOA initiatives and security-oriented features. I've worked a great deal with user authentication systems (OAuth2 as a provider and as a client, SAML systems, token-based auth, etc) and permissions / authorization systems. I helped design and implement a protocol for a definitive caching system with extremely tight performance requirements: the system had to respond to a query with either a record or an assertion that no such record exists, with less than 0.5 ms of latency tolerance (i.e., a "cache miss" doesn't have time to query the main database for a record). Much of my work here is about writing Ruby code, as well as monitoring and maintaining a suite of individual service applications. I'm working directly with MySQL, Postgres, Jenkins, Docker, Thrift, and Kafka. I've also had a little bit of experience working with Java and Javascript, primarily reviewing code rather than writing it in those languages.
