Managing a $300M+ business – with 3 distinct P&L groups. Power and Water automation group is responsible to sell and deliver instrumentation and control (I&C) projects to the subject market. The product group also responsible to develop, market, and deliver control system products globally. Finally the Service group is responsible to sell and deliver services and products to extend the life of our customers capital investments. Established and drove clear, customer-focused vision for the organization to drive growth, market share and profitability. Identified areas for investment as well as refinement of focus away from non-value added activities. Sales have tripled, and profitability has increased more than six-fold from 2009 results to record levels in 2011 and subsequently in 2012.

Lead a global product business with annual revenues in excess of $200M. Responsible for development and execution of business growth initiatives globally to maximize volume and profit growth for control system business via ABB direct sales channels. Growth initiatives under way for increasing sales to existing customer base as well as market penetration for new business in Power Generation and Oil & Gas and Chemical markets. Launch of complementary products to extend the reach of our offering to enter Asset Management and Safety markets, as well as a lifecycle support offering to provide a more predictable lifecycle cost to customers, and a more predictable revenue stream to ABB. Responsible to optimize lifecycle cost management of 6 major control systems (via acquisitions) while moving customer base to a single comprehensive product offering. Major operations located in US, Sweden, and Germany.

Responsible to lead a global team of marketing and marketing communications individuals to develop positioning, value propositions, marketing themes and collateral for ABB’s next generation automation system offering. Pulled together a global team to refocus ABB’s strategy to a common marketing theme. Analyzed product capabilities, strengths and weaknesses, competitive offerings, and installed base customer requirements to recast our promotional themes from highly technical feature / function focus to a customer value-based marketing theme. In addition, Program Manager for North American Growth Initiatives for Process Automation business from March of 2004 until December 2007. This entailed working with teams focused on 9 specific growth initiatives in North America to allow ABB to enter new markets and/or sell more products and services to existing customers over a period of 5 year planning period.

Responsible to manage an organization of 400+ persons distributed in 3 locations aimed at the following 4 major activities:Acting as world-wide product responsible unit for strategy, development, marketing and world-wide P&L management for Plant Optimization business.Regional center responsible for supporting the sale, delivery, and support of Open Control System, Safety, and Plant Optimization products through dedicated ABB channels in the Americas market. Development of 3rd party distribution channels for the sale and delivery of open control products to the Americas market.Management of one of several world-wide development centers providing component ‘products’ for use in one or more Control products world-wide.
