Supporting the community to develop the Donside Village Community Association and also to make links with the wider Tillydrone Community. 2. Worked alongside local, city wide and national partner agencies to enhance the Donside community integration into the area and promote the interests of the community. 3. Worked alongside the community to enhance the amenities within Donside for the community which included consultation with the residents to develop a children's play area and with partner agencies a community gardening scheme.

To develop and manage an alcohol support service awarded to Addaction Ltd in Aberdeen City adhering to the Service Level Agreement and in partnership with the Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Hospital Trust, Aberdeen Royal Cornhill Hospital as well as third sector partner agencies. 2. To manage and support a team of 12 alcohol support workers and additional support staff; through an ongoing programme of training, supporting staff through higher education, monthly supervision and external support where appropriate. 3. To ensure the delivery of target led services to support individuals with alcohol dependency through a programme of group and individual direct interventions. Providing talking therapies through in-house Councillors as well as working alongside partner agencies such as the Aberdeen City ADP, the Alexander Clinic, Oldmeldrum and Drugs Action to ensure a cohesive approach to treatment and care of service users. 4. To manage annual budgets in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and Addaction's Policy and Procedures. To provide reports on the progress of the project to senior managers and funding partners.

Supporting the Project Director and managing the organisations project specific budgets. 2. Supervision of the specific projects and area managers. 3. Designing and delivery of new services and delivering the volunteer support and training programme.4. Managing the Leeds LGBT Switchboard support service as well as working directly with individual service users through counselling sessions and supporting service user groups.5. Vice Chair of Leeds Pride working in partnership and liaising between Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Police in the co-ordination of the Leeds Pride Events 6. Delivered sessions both locally and nationally at conferences to key partner agencies regarding HIV Care and Prevention.

This was a very different role to my previous working experiences and had to rise to the challenges that setting up a new service threw up:1. When appointed we had no office base or resources so I had to locate premises, furnish and stock them, design the services leaflets and marketing materials. 2. Liaise with services and partner agencies, both statutory and third sector 3. Appointed a small staff team of 4 and recruited volunteers to ensure we could deliver targeted person centred services. Supervised the volunteering team and carried out staff supervision.4. Worked alongside colleagues from NHS Grampian and Grampian Police to design, deliver and train their staff teams around diversity issues. 5. Designed a joint outreach approach with Grampian Police to deliver services directly into areas frequented by men who have sex with men. 6. Delivered training at the National Police Training College, Tulliallan and sat on the National Police College Advisory Panel. 7. Delivered service user support groups, training on interpersonal skills and sexual health as well as training volunteers and staff. 8. Chaired joint partnership groups including working with Drugs Action and Mental Health Service providers throughout the region.9. Wrote and compiled quarterly and annual reports for funding partners and managed project budgets.10. Worked directly with service users at all levels, including individual 1-2-1 sessions, group work, outreach and training.I believe I grew as an individual both professionally and personally whilst working with PHACE Scotland in part to the people I had the privilege of working alongside but mostly through my interactions with service users.

Area Co-ordinator and Chairperson for a self-support group for gay and bisexual men offering a befriending service, LGBT switchboard enquiry service, group meetings and organisation of residential weekends. I compiled a monthly newsletter and along with other members staffed the voluntary switchboard and referral service. Later on saw the transition of the service to a stand-alone LGBT Switchboard, whilst the group remained active until 2010.
