Owner & Director of UMC Innovation, Mesh Industries & Pest Proof Fences. Born and raised in New Zealand, I am a husband, and father to 3 children with a keen interest in fishing, farming, and aviation. My wife Pip and I raise cattle on a farm on Banks Peninsula and spend our time between there and Christchurch. We feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the world, where amazing fishing and outdoors are never far away. My interests outside of work include over 30 years of flying, leading me to take several years break from the wire industry, to fly commercially before returning to the business. Our family have been involved in the wire industry since 1932 spanning 4 generations, where we have established a reputation for producing the highest quality machines, and products. The machinery and products we have made over those years can be found all over the world. Today our companies continue to manufacture wire fence machinery and wire products for applications on the land and in the ocean. This includes exclusion fencing for conservation and pest control, along with security and copper wire mesh products for the offshore fish farming and aquaculture industry. What we are constantly working towards is to build more than just machines and products. We want to create technologies that help improve the world we live in. My interest is not only in how we can bring ideas and innovation to the design and development of the products we create, but to make sure that what we do contributes positively to protecting the environment and its inhabitants as well.
