I'm a expert on ecology, both aquatic and terrestrial, specialized in ecological corridors. This means I design, construct and monitor fish ladders, wildlife crossings and 'natural' corridors. Furthermore, I have extensive experience in dealing with surface water quality issues, based on a water (eco)system approach. I have performed many projects within the programs of the Eurpean Water Framework Directive en the Nature Defragmentation Program ('Meerjarenplan Ontsnippering').I preferably work as project manager in complex projects, where different expertise are combined to create the best solutions. Working with different stakeholders and bringing ideas together. In spatial projects I focus on sustainable performance, increasing biodiversity and combining functionalities.

This internship focussed on monitoring several fish ladders on there functioning, a project commissioned by Water Board 'de Stichtse Rijnlanden'. The project was successfully completed. Beside this project, I worked on all kind of projects, like blue algea, water quality reports and haitat design. The internship ended in a job offer!

I've worked on an idea to combine conservation with social media. By building an application based on 'infotainment' I wanted to make people wonder, aware and contribute to conservation in a modern and easy way. The content is based on camera trap research, from which we reuse the footage. After approval of the business case, building the first demo's and finding funds and developers we were entering the final stage: the realisation of the App. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding the proces came to a hold. Still, it has een a learningful experience en maybe when the time is right we'll have another go!

Title: The Polder Discontinuum ConceptSubject: a study on the spatial distriution of macrofauna within a polder drainage system, based on size and structure of polder ditches. The idea is based on the River Continuum Concept.

Côte D'Ivoire

I have performed research on the illusive Pygmy hippo in Taï National Park, Côte d'Ivoire. Using 20 camera traps I estimated local densities, population structure and habitat preference. The report is used for further research and conservation activities. It was the start of a large researchpoject now conducted by PHD students.

Working as a volunteer in Marakele Contractual National Park, helping with the daily activities, like game captures (rhino/antilopes), game counts, fire fighting and conservation services.
