Maintained lab as a separate cost center, which included; cost/revenue projections, monthly/yearly budgeting and management reporting. Maintained lab capital equipment, government/military equipment, and expendable resources. Performed all levels of prototype development, including metal working, CNC parts, electronic circuits, portable power systems, full system integration and use-ability studies. As Staff Scientist – Fully supported primary scientific investigators in the development of advanced defense research projects, by developing hardware and software solutions for “proof-of-concept” systems. A primary contributor to the POC system of the DARPA “Ultra-Viz” project managed by ARA. Also, heavily involved in early development and testing of the “FightSight” bullet detection system. Served as UAV researcher/pilot for airborne sensor systems for “continuous surveillance” projects. Experience in SolidWorks design and prototype manufacturing, Windows/Linux OS, C++ and MatLab programming , micro-controller product development (OMAP-Cortex, PIC-32, Arduino), specification/design of systems utilizing multiple sensor inputs and controlling outputs (IMU/mNAV/GPS). Video camera capture to PC and micro-controller devices, including OpenCV and custom library development. Worked directly with PI’s to establish project scope/timeline projection/budgets and milestones. Performed background research and provided summary reporting and directional recommendations.
