I am currently working on the development of a multi-agency based programme of provision for young people (19 to 24) who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.I am also working with the Raising of the Participation Age programme with schools, employers and FE providers in Knowlsey.

I am working on a part time PhD University of Leeds with Professor Geoff Hayward. The focus of my PhD will be on 14 to 19 Education and Youth Employment. I will be looking at how the education to employment transitions of young people who have been on the margins of education or the workplace have changed over the past 40 years; what we can learn from the range of 14 to 19 education and youth employment initiatives that have been introduced over this period and how such a critical historical analysis can provide a framework within which we can critically evaluate current initiatives that are aimed at reducing the levels of youth Unemployment in both the UK and Europe.As part of my research I will be working with both researchers and employers from Germany, Canada and Australia to look how they are addressing the issue of youth Unemployment. I will also be collaborating with colleagues from Paderborn University to look at work they are doing on the German Transition System; provision for young people who have followed the academic pathway and have not been able to access their Dual Apprenticeship System. I completed my Masters Programme at the Institute of Education University of London in September 2012. My masters programme involved carrying out research into the development of Key Stage 4 Vocational and Foundation Learning Programmes and the experience of eight young Apprentices of their transition from Key Stage 4 Vocational and Foundation Learning Programmes into their Apprenticeships.
