The role assists Councils improve drinking water and waste water infrastructure to improve public health outcomes and security of town water supply through accessing funding streams available through NSW State Government programs including the Safe & Secure Water Program and Emergency Town Water Supply program. The role provides technical assistance to Councils to identify the most appropriate engineering technology solution to achieve compliance with NSW Health, EPA and Government Acts and Regulations, with a strong emphasis on development of and alignment with Council's Integrated Water Cycle Management plan and the principles of Best Practice Management for water utilities.Recent drought conditions has tested many water supply utilities state-wide, and the current need for assistance to Councils in this regard cannot be over-stated.My area of focus is the Upper Hunter / New England area, servicing 15 Councils in an area of 180,000 square kilometres approximately.A rigorous review and approvals process for funding under Safe and Secure Water Program and Integrated Water Cycle Management planning ensures effectiveness and efficiency of spend, leading to the highest level of value for money to State and Local Government through prioritisation of projects.

NSW Public Works provide project management services for major infrastructure projects for State and Local Government throughout NSW. The role involved contract, project and construction management as Principal's Authorised Person for the Coffs Harbour Northern Breakwater Upgrade, Yamba Breakwater upgrade projects. I am also managing the design and construction of the new Trades Hub at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus. The role also includes project management of marina, moorings and other coastal infrastructure projects as required.NSW Public Works utilises rigorous contract management processes (GC21) to efficiently deliver these major projects. The role builds on my skills and knowledge in project and contract management in one one the most beautiful regions of Australia.

The large and diverse role required management and staffing of a fully functioning 40-seat public café operating 7 days per week, accommodation services management including website development, bookings and support services for 6 rooms / 17 beds, management of student services including enrollments and support, management of marketing activities locally and interstate, and always providing excellent customer service across all facets of guest experience at the campus.The position reports only to the Director of the company, having 28 direct reports to assist in my delivery of the above criteria. I resigned from the position to explore other opportunities.

Southern Prospect is a specialty manufacturing business on the North West Coast of Tasmania producing large capacity diesel generator sets (up to 2MW), maintenance of wind turbine installations, electrical wiring harness manufacture and specialist manufacture. The move has enhanced skills, leveraging off significant technical and managerial experience in the water sector allowing me to also materialise opportunities, benefiting the wider regional development sphere. The role held responsibility for the following areas;• Management and development of the 1, 3 and 10-year capital expenditure program and budget, and to take the lead role in setting the direction for future capital works for the Corporation. • Management and direction of regional integration and asset rationalization studies.• Development and management of the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan, Wastewater Management Plan and risk reduction-based prioritization of capital works program.• Capital Budget of $17.5m per year for four years then $20m per year thereafter. • Management and development of strategies and design of water and wastewater systems that maximize the efficiency of capital spend leading to greatest reduction in business risk.• Management of design and planning staff including team building, mentoring, design review, recruitment, staff development and work allocation.• Management of up to 10 staff including engineers and technical officers• A fundamental aspect of this position is facilitation of collaborative decision making. Responsible for planning, design and delivery of engineering projects including treatment, distribution and reticulation headworks for supply of potable and irrigation water to the regional and wider communities. The position required significant adaptability and breadth of knowledge to implement new processes / systems and then apply experience to deliver the project.These multi-discipline projects require strategy development, planning, design, costing, procurement, project management, delivery and close-out to meet stakeholder requirements. A significant part of my work has centred around the delivery of critical projects of a reactionary or emergency nature that occur from time to time such as the Forth Head Offices project, the Barrington Treatment Plant plenum repair project and the Turners Beach Pump Station project. These types of project had immediate timeframes and involve the formation and management of a specialist delivery team across many disciplines to deliver the project within stakeholder requirements.The role also provided consultative and project management services to external clients such as Councils, DPIW, HEC and Irrigation utilities for the design, analysis and reporting on proposed systems. The role worked closely with consultants, Councils and the public and requires robust management of those relationships together with open communications to ensure successful project delivery.The position involved the management and mentoring of Mechanical and Electrical Technical officers, an Assistant, a GIS Officer, a Project Supervisor, together with University students and contractors. The role also coordinated the workload scheduling of the maintenance staff through weekly meetings.
