Management of the EC&I design team ensuring all projects were suitably resourced and technically supported, from concept through to detailed design, installation, commissioning, handover and training. Responsibilities included:-Preparation of proposals; Project Management of EC&I biased projects; Technical Approval of all safety critical documentation; Ensuring compliance with all relevant British and European Standards and Codes of Practice ; Ensuring the company QA procedures were followed.In addition, I provided consultancy services for ATEX & IEC61508/11 including SIL verifications on a Fuel Distribution Terminal under the focus of the HSE and also drove continuous improvement within the EC&I group developing standard documentation for all E&I projects including SIL calculations, datasheets, schedules, panel specifications, scopes of work, etc to improve efficiency and mistake proof designs.

Lead C&I Engineer on a c€20M Project for Client based in Belgium involving the installation of a new process stream and upgrades to the site DCS and Furnace Control Systems. Duties included managing a team of C&I Engineers and Designers to deliver designs on time and within budget manhours; liaising with Client Engineers; approval of all C&I documentation (Design Specifications, C&E, Datasheets, Loop Drawings, CBD, System URS, TBA; etc); attending HAZOP’s and Design Reviews and producing monthly progress reports and cash flow forecastsAlso produced front end estimates and design specifications as required for C&I engineering, design, procurement and construction on various smaller projects.

Lead a multi-discipline team of staff and contractors to deliver the sites’ capital programme. Produced monthly progress reports and cash flow forecasts to Local and European senior managementAccountable for ensuring compliance for all electrical, instrumentation and control systems as well as EHS targets. Successfully implemented the site’s hazardous area inspection programme.Delivered one of the key growth projects (ca £500K) on time and within budget faced with extremely challenging timescales and financial constraints.Also ensured SOX compliance by implementing auditable cost control systems.

System Keeper for the sites Yokogawa DCS responsible for maintaining the system hardware, software and firmware. Managed all software changes as well as updating all documentation.Seconded to Lead E&I Engineer on a major re-instrumentation project (ca £6M). Approved all 3rd party designs. Responded to technical queries from the design contractor. Specified the safety shutdown system.Developed and managed the sites safety critical instrument test procedures and also flowcharted the existing DCS software sequences direct from code to assist with operator training and improve fault diagnosis.
