About Mark Windsor

We are an outdoors company making useful things for folk that love to play outside. In our workshop we design tactile, hands-on camp kitchen gear and tools that make outdoor times better. That look good, work better and last (at least) a lifetime. Every useful thing we make is designed for durability and sustainability. To be used and used some more. And to make as small a dent in the planet as is humanly possible. You see, we want your kids to inherit your useful things. And also pass on a thriving planet, where there are still wild places to get outside and play. Full Windsor is based out of Eagle Rock, California. We have bootstrapped and crowdfunded our way into existence, and are still 100% founder owned and operated.BeginningsOur Founder is a lanky Kiwi industrial designer named Mark Windsor. Mark began Full Windsor back in 2011, with the founding principle that design, innovation and sustainability should be at the heart of everything we do. From an old warehouse in Hackney Wick, East London, he quit his day job at a well-known design firm and released Full Windsor’s first product on Kickstarter. We hopped across the pond to sunny California in 2018, and are more focused than ever on designing sustainable and innovative outdoor gear, that helps people to enjoy getting outside and has a minimal impact on the planet.

    My primary role was to manage the creation of a proposal for the designing custom interiors for private business jets. In this role I lead the conceptual design team as well as conducted target market analysis, manufacturing viability studies and material sustainability case studies. The proposal proved very successful as it attracted investors and lead to discussions with a number of large privately owned companies in the Middle East.

    In this project I was in charge of the detailed product design for manufacture of a range of children's toys. This included the development of prototypes, the design of moulds and tooling, and the specification of manufacturing process and materials. I also designed the graphics and the packaging as well as the POS displays. The range has since gone on to achieve a large volume of sales in New Zealand and Europe and is a top seller in numerous toy stores.

    The Hothouse brings together designers and companies to study possible synergies and increase companies R & D capabilities. Working with companies such as ACC, Lexicon and Built NY, I designed ranges of products that were aimed at identified market niches. These included collaborative desks, high protection laptop bags and movable LED reading lamps. In this role I lead focus groups, ran creative workshops and liaised with corporate clients.
