About Mark Wolfe

Mark Wolfe is an energy economist who is a nationally recognized public policy expert on energy markets, affordability, efficiency, and financing programs. In the course of his career, he has focused on helping low income families increase the energy efficiency of their homes, developing strategies to maximize the affordability of their home energy bills and helping them adapt to rising temperatures as a result of climate change. Mark has been an op-ed contributor to the CNN, The Hill and The Messenger as well as other media outlets on environmental justice issues, particularly at the intersection of energy, housing, and public health. He serves as Executive Director of the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA) where he leads the state low-income energy directors and represents their interests before Congress. Mark also serves as Co-Director of the Center on Energy Policy and Poverty, a national non-profit research organization primarily funded by the ClimateWorks Foundation, whose purpose is to develop model regulations and programs to help low income families increase access to energy efficient cooling systems. He also leads a national campaign to educate the public about the importance of helping low income families adapt to rising temperatures. Mark serves as adjunct professor at the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy at George Washington University on environmental, energy and social-justice issues and has been a guest lecturer at other schools including Yale University School of the Environment and George Mason University. Mark has held previous positions with the Coalition of Northeastern Governors, National Governors Association, US Treasury Department, and the Congressional Research Service. Mark holds a MS degree in public policy from the State University of New York and a BA in economics from Antioch College.
