Ensuring that the activities of the operator are monitored for compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements, and any additional requirements as established by CHC UK, and that these activities are being carried out properly under the supervision of the relevant head of functional area.Key areas of responsibility include:Ensuring the Safety Management System meets all external and internal requirements;Ensuring that the compliance monitoring programme is properly implemented, maintained and continually reviewed and improved;Maintaining contact with authorities, manufacturers, customers and other operators;Monitoring all subcontracted activities;Preparing, arranging and following up legislative and client audits within Compliance Monitoring and internal control;Ensuring the department activities are planned and carried out in accordance with existing plans and provisions;Ensuring compliance with SMS procedures, Health and Safety legislation and the requirements of Company procedures;Responsible for monitoring compliance of all activities including Flight, & Ground Operations, Crew Training, Continuing Airworthiness, Engineering together with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation;Verifying correct function of Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Maintenance, Continuing Airworthiness and Crew Training systems and procedures, post any implemented change;

Primarily responsible for the promotion and awareness of Flight Safety at all of the Company’s locations within the UK, leading a network of selected and trained personnel.Key responsibilities included:Introduction, training and management of the company’s occurrence reporting system, championing its use and the continual education of employees on the use and benefits of the system.Implementation of a streamlined Occurrence Review Process, involving continued co-operation with Post Holders to ensure that safety KPI’s are met and exceeded, including the implementation and communication of safety initiatives following trend identification and analysis.Employed extensive investigative experience to successfully conduct and manage Company investigations into flight safety related occurrences, incidents and accidents and the implementation of future corrective, preventative action.Development and teaching of an ‘in-house’ Occurrence Investigation Training Course utilising Tripod and HFACS/HFIX Analysis methodologies . Trained candidates from other companies at numerous Safety Conferences and worldwide locations.Integral member of the Company’s FDM (FOQA) Oversight Committee and Review Group.

Appointed to numerous Fleet Air Arm Squadrons in a variety of roles, the highlights of which were:SAR Aircraft Commander: Completed over 200 search and rescue missions often at night and in adverse weather conditions.Completed a three year exchange programme with the Canadian Forces attached to 443 Squadron based at Victoria International Airport, Vancouver Island. Also served on HMCS Calgary during a 6 month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.Lucky enough to have served on both HMS Illustrious and Invincible during the 80's and 90's and deployed on three tours to the Far East as well as three tours to operational theatres.

Completed an apprenticeship scheme with the Royal navy in 1984 and graduated as an Aircraft Artificer before becoming an engineering shop floor manager supervising the maintenance and overhaul of aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic components.
