EC3 Global is an international, environmental-management advisory group, providing a pathway for clients to set and achieve sustainability objectives with a Triple-Bottom-Line focus; and implement programs to achieve these objectives.As the IT Manager / Software Development Manager I am responsible for leading EC3 Global’s Technology group, which supports its core products and internal systems infrastructure. The Technology group works closely with Sales, Research and Development, and the Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism to drive research and development to ensure our products retain a leading edge and commercial advantage.

I was solely responsible for the technical development of the web solution http://www.decipher.biz which delivers tourism information and statistics from over 300 suppliers to tourism business across Australia. The development and commercialisation phase of the project was funded by the Federal Government.The development of the website required me to work with two data researchers, a project manager, and a marketing / communication expert.The project has since evolved into a sustainable business with the development team expanded to five developers, including two full time developers, and two contractors.Achievements include:• My name on the registration of USA Patent #US2005/0203861A1 for unique classification and searching of data• Three successful presentations to Government Ministers including the Hon. Jackie Kelly, the Hon. Joe Hockey, and the Hon. Responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of ad hoc solutions for a range of clients. Development achievements include:• Divisional Information System CRM – Development of the system architecture and prototype for a Divisional Information System CRM. The application was written in Microsoft .NET (VB.NET) with a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Database. The successful implementation of the prototype ensured the application is still in use today. It also included common code to build the look and feel using CSS, common database functionality, and custom exception handling.• Container Management System - Assisted with development of a container management system for Patrick Stevedores. The project was written in Microsoft .NET Beta 2 with an Ingress Database Management System.

Accountable for all aspects of the development lifecycle for assigned computer systems using the Quality Management System as appropriate. Achievements include:• Leading a team of up to three programmers in developing a prototype system that acts as a real-time web information hub to external statistical/information datasets for the Tourism Industry. This was a multi-million dollar project that spanned over two years. Ernst & Young and CRC Tourism were also involved with the project. It was my responsibility to oversee the development of the system, which included meeting tight deadlines for progress demonstrations to the Project Management Team.• Working with a team of four developers for the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) project. This is an administration system and data warehouse that stores product information from all Australian states/territories. Product information will be contributed via XML loads and stored in a SQLServer2000 database.• Maintaining and enhancing the Amadeus eTravel system. Clients for this system include Telstra.com Travel, Webjet, Harvey World Travel, Travelshop (ninemsn), Sunlover Holidays, eTravel Gate and many more. The eTravel application communicates with a Tandem Mainframe, an Oracle database, and allows Travel packages to be booked online and in real-time. • Maintaining and enhancing a real-time Travel Agent Booking system for Tourism Queensland. This application is used widely in Australia and New Zealand. The system is written in C on an Apache Web Server with an Oracle Database. • Maintaining portions of the Tourism Queensland web sites on both NT and Unix servers.• Application and Pathway programming on a Tandem Mainframe in the Application Support team of the Atlas2000 product. This is a travel booking engine used by nearly all of the Australian State and Territory Tourism commissions. Other clients include Jetset and BTI.
