Working with commercial accounts in the Upper Valley of Napa County. Developing recycling and composting programs in preparation for SB 1383. Marketing and selling compost made on-site to wineries, vineyards, and other agricultural businesses. Using Excel, Python, Tableau, and our databases to analyze and visualize financial, tonnage, and service data. Creating and organizing our quarterly reports to our local JPA.

This position involves working with businesses and multi-family housing units throughout Marin County to determine the best recycling and composting programs for their needs and requirements.

I lead a short waste audit project at University of California Santa Cruz to discover the key contaminants in dorms around the area. Following the study, I helped analyze the data we obtained and created a report that analyzed the recycling streams we analyzed.

I helped lead research with a couple other students at UC Santa Cruz. We were attempting to divert the food-soiled cardboard that goes to the landfill by utilizing the properties in fungal mycelium to break down cardboard and paper products into compost. On top of this, we were looking to expand the research so the campus get better data on their waste contamination.

I was President of the Sigma Zeta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi, the Jewish Fraternity) at UC Santa Cruz. I managed a fraternity that had 70+ brothers at its largest point point, and had a yearly budget of approximately $65,000. I consistently found that I was working to please the brothers of my chapter, do all of the necessary paperwork and workshops that the school required organizations like mine to do, and also work with the national AEPi headquarters to have the correct safety procedures and host certain Jewish events. These three entities (my brothers, the school, and the national headquarters) all had different priorities that I was legally responsible for. I learned how to please all three groups of people, and increased the reputation of my fraternity with the school, community, and beyond. I learned a lot about leadership in this position, and how to manage people to get events to happen. We hosted three philanthropic events, a few fundraisers, and many social events. I also supported a my treasurer in obtaining a corporate sponsorship with a pizza place called Woodstocks, which ended up being very successful for both our chapter and the business itself. I became very skilled in working with individuals to find what they were passionate about and turn that into a job that could benefit the chapter. Most importantly, I learned how hard leaders have to work to achieve their goals, but also how rewarding it can be to accomplish tasks with a hard-working team.

I helped the local businesses in Pleasanton comply with the county Mandatory Recycling Ordinance in the Summer of 2017. My main focus was to help businesses throughout the city understand the new recycling and composting laws. I also helped jumpstart a new program called Local Leaders of the 21st Century that the Go Green Initiative (GGI) has been rolling out over the last few years.I ended up being contracted off to Oracle's Pleasanton campus by the GGI in the summer of 2018 and helped conduct a waste audit to determine where their waste stream could use some work. My team and I then put together a Waste Report to help guide Oracle's facilities department (led by Tim Roche) on what we thought would be the next best steps. Concurrently that summer, I was helping the GGI intern team conduct waste audits for Pleasanton's city facilities and write waste reports on our findings.

I helped plan Jewish themed events with an "Event Team" for students that attended Santa Cruz Hillel. These events were usually focused on a central theme of Judaism. For example, the concept of Tikkun olam ("heal or repair the world") was a theme for an environmental event we once held. Usually somewhere between 10-25 people would show up to these biweekly events.
