I have been a criminal defense attorney for the past 39 years. I am certified by the State Bar of California as a Criminal Law Specialist, representing clients in both state and federal courts, with over 200 jury trials, from special circumstance murders, white collar, drug conspiracies, sexual assaults, gang, baby-death, and DUI homicide cases.I am death penalty qualified and currently on the special circumstances/death penalty panel of the Fresno County Superior Court, where I am appointed to the most serious murder cases. I have handled and tried dozens of murder and manslaughter cases,and obtained many not guilty verdicts. I have worked with the Northern California Innocence Project and was successful in obtaining the reversal of a conviction in which an innocent 17 year old boy was wrongfully convicted of a double murder and was sentenced to 2 Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) prison terms. My high profile cases appear regularly in the media and have been reported on such television programs as The History Channel’s "Gangland."I have a strong reputation in the Fresno legal community for my knowledge of the law and as a hard-nosed, effective trial advocate. I have been an instructor for other attorneys in continuing legal education classes in Felony Sentencing, Evidence, Trial Practice, and have published works on various legal topics. I have been a Mock Trial Attorney Judge and team coach, and founded an organization of criminal defense attorneys in Fresno, California.
