Enterprise Architect - member of the Business and Technology Solutions team.The Business and Technology Solutions work with the business to identify their ICT needs and develop roadmaps for the future. We ensure that project solutions are aligned to the ministry and sector’s overarching goals. We advise on standards and assess the fit of solutions against business requirements. Our specialist advice covers key disciplines including Application, Data, and Infrastructure and Security architectures. Our objective is to ensure the use of common services where it is appropriate, so projects avoid building tools that already exist elsewhere in the ministry. To achieve this we have built strong links within the education sector agencies and to the wider education sector. Our team works at a whole of government level – representing the ministry on inter-agency ICT working parties and forums.

aBEAT is my own company and stands for architects, Business, Enterprise, Applications, Technologies. It is an IT consultancy company specialising in IT architecture, Software Development Quality and has most recently helped customers including Loyalty New Zealand (Fly Buys) and Whitireia Polytechnic with;- Sharepoint Governance advice and planning;- Solution architecture role specifications;- RFI/RFP evaluations;- Architecture appraisal and QA;

I started contracting for PASIS in Feb 2010 - I was engaged to deliver a solutions architecture as part of a major programme of work being undertaken by one of their clients . After the client indicated they wanted to extend my engagement I became a full time employee of Pasis. I had the pleasure of being awarded Pasis employee of the month after starting as a full time employee. As well as delivering the Solutions architecture required I also assisted the client with recruiting suitably qualified technical staff and also provided technical guidance on a major RFP selection process for the client. At the end of the client engagment I successfully delivered the required solutions architecture, handed over the solutions architecture to my replacement whom I had helped recruit and finished at Pasis.

NZ Senior Architect for Developer and Platform Strategy group.Worked with mostly Enterprise customers as the Senior Architect for Developer and Platform Strategy in Microsoft New Zealand. Main areas of work were;- Enterprise architecture- Solutions architecture with a strong focus on .NET- Development architecture - Application life cycle management (ALM) implementation using Visual Studio Team SystemKey acheivements;- Introduced Enterprise Architecture focused 'EA Top down approach' into NZ;- Instrumental in helping customers introduce Enterprise architectures;- Worked with customer solutions architects implementing projects involving new technologies;- Drove evidence and adoption of Visual Studio Team System and achieved a 'platinum win' for the New Zealand subsidiary;

CTO role - looking at new and existing technologies and evaluating their suitability. I reported my findings to a senior level steering committee within Statistics NZ who were very business focused (a good thing).Main acheivements in this role;- Introduced new development platforms;- Implemented the 8 business drivers approach for Technology and architecture selection.

Led and managed a variety of projects including Year 2000.Achievements;- Year 2000 project – implemented at minimal cost and disruption;- Led project to procure and implement initial Firewall infrastructure;- Major infrastructure renewal programme – played key roles as programme co-ordinator and project leader;- Defined comprehensive Year 2000 Risk management and mitigation systems;

Main purpose of role was to improve internal IT support.Acheivements;- Successfully led project to procure and implement help desk systems;- Developed then implemented front line operational support procedures;- Developed then implemented linkages from front-line to tier 2 and 3 support levels; - Developed then implemented performance metrics including customer satisfaction measures;
