I recently retired from EY where I led two practices: I was the Construction and Real Estate Advisory Leader and the Global Leader of Construction (E&C) Advisory. With more than 35 years of experience in real estate, construction and hospitality consulting, operations and business outsourcing, I specialize in risk analysis, business process assessments and re-engineering, organizational design, outsourcing, project management; occupancy cost reduction, procurement analysis, disputes resolution, technology selection and shared services assessments. My early years were spent in military and civil engineering with a contracting organization, where I managed projects ranging from freeway junctions in the UK to the world’s largest bridge in Hong Kong. Born in the UK, I’ve had the great pleasure of working in China, Vietnam, the US, Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, UK, Myanmar, Australia, India, Korea, Taiwan, Canada, Brazil, Middle East, Africa and Europe. I’ve managed projects totaling more than $100 billion, and my project management skills are rooted in my extensive education and professional experience. My clients include some of the world’s largest organizations and my projects have resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in cost savings to them. Among these projects are the rationalization of the real estate portfolio for one of the largest US states; the outsourcing of the entire real estate function at a Fortune 500 company; diagnostic and process improvement at one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the US; and enterprise risk management for an international developer. I’m a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP), Chartered Arbitrator and Full Member of the Association for Project Management. My work has been published in the Corporate Real Estate Journal, Business Xpansion Journal, and CFMA Building Profits Magazine and I recently authored my first textbook, The Planning, Design and Executing of Projects.
