I am an accomplished charity and business leader, with a 25 year career building, leading and digitally transforming organisations in the private sector and civil society.I am Executive Director of the National Park City Foundation and London National Park City – the large-scale and long-term grassroots movement, to make our cities greener, healthier and wilder. When we reimagine our urban areas as National Parks, we’re able to tell new stories about how we might live in cities and to reconnect people with nature – an essential step in combatting the climate and biodiversity crises. For the previous 7 years I was Chief Executive of mySociety, a highly regarded UK based civic technology charity – supporting and developing civic technology services used in over 40 countries. I transformed the fortunes of the charity, successfully managing the transition from the original founder, establishing two new boards, overhauling the governance and organisation of our wholly remote team and launching their successful local government digital service business, SocietyWorks,.Prior to mySociety I was a Senior Advisor at Blue State Digital in London, and I spent an enjoyable and challenging stint as Chief Operating Officer with the lovely folks at Berg, where I helped in their transition from a globally recognised design studio to venture funded tech startup. In 1999 I founded glue London, the UK’s first digital advertising agency, which under my leadership became one of the worlds most awarded and respected creative agencies working with clients including adidas, Coca Cola, Google, Toyota and the Guardian. I took the UK agency through a lot; from separating from our original joint venture partner, to Agency Of The Year three times and we also with great pride, were recognised on three occasions in the 'Sunday Times Top 100 Small Companies To Work For' list. In 2005 I negotiated the sale of the agency to Aegis Media, and subsequently became Global Managing Director of Isobar, Aegis’s 3,000 strong creative network operating in 34 countries globally.I am a regular speaker at industry events, have chaired many awards, and was for a time a columnist in Campaign Magazine. In 2010 I was made a Fellow of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.Originally I studied Architecture, which is where I learned how to shape and communicate ideas, before getting the digital bug early on in 1995.
