I have experience in several practice areas including: corporate/commercial disputes, franchisee rights, freedom of expression, defamation, fiduciary duties, professional discipline and bankruptcy/insolvency. I completed my articles at one of Toronto’s top boutique litigation firms and have since developed a broad litigation practice, appearing before the Superior Court of Ontario in injunctions, commercial disputes, fiduciary duty cases, business oppression actions, trust cases, lawyer conflict of interest disputes, bankruptcy matters and insurance coverage matters. I have also had the opportunity to appear before various administrative boards and tribunals. In 2008, I received an Honours B.A. (with Distinction) in International Relations from Trinity College at the University of Toronto. I then studied Mandarin for 6 months at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China. On my return to Toronto I worked as a contributor and news analyst at online media outlet The Mark News.In 2012, I received my J.D. from Queen’s Law School. At Queen’s, I was a course prize winner in Fiduciary Obligations and was part of Queen’s award-winning 2011 Wilson Constitutional Moot team. I was also a keen member of the Queen’s law faculty rugby team.I possess a strong background in human rights and free expression issues. I am a former summer law student at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and have represented the CCLA’s position on the CBC. I retain a particular interest in media law, freedom of speech issues and defamation. I have experience representing parties in defamation actions and been retained by magazines to do pre-publication libel review.
