Throughout his career Mark has managed and coordinated on technical, schedule, launch, on-orbit testing, and related activities such as insurance, ITAR, marketing support, and due diligence studies. The cost savings was approximately $300 Million savings over the ten spacecraft to be replaced.MANAGER, SPACECRAFT ENGINEERING & ORBIT ANOMALY TEAM:Manager of Spacecraft Engineering Group responsible for new spacecraft program support as well as the health and proper performance of the on-orbit satellite fleet.• Created pre-eminent Anomaly Team and data archiving process that led to the diagnosis, resolution and recovery of major mission threatening on-orbit anomalies. Developed numerous innovative operational recovery and maintenance procedures and received Presidents award for these efforts. The financial benefit for these recoveries was significant.• Created generic contract documents for improved productivity and reliability.• Created departmental charters with common goals/priorities across engineering and operations groups for optimum teamwork and cooperation.• Originator of more stringent thermal cycling test criteria that more adequately weeded out incipient/workmanship problems and thus obtained better more trouble free satellites to orbit.• Participated in the evaluation of Russian and French companies for new business possibilities.
RCA ASTRO ELECTRONICS (currently LOCKHEED MARTIN) MANAGER/LEAD ENGINEER:Responsible for the management and engineering associated with the mechanical integration, test and launch team operations along with the associated scheduling, planning, and generation of hazardous and non-hazardous procedures.• Successfully completed and launched five meteorological satellites for NASA, NOAA and Air Force customers.Mechanical/Electronic Packaging EngineerResponsible for the design, manufacturing, assembly, test and qualification of flight equipment on various satellite programs.• Designer of UHF Transmitter and Command and Control units on Viking Mars Lander program. Received award for successful performance over severe planetary environments.
