Co-founder of this nationally award-winning intercultural community dialogue and community bridge-building project, with 2700 participants a year in our small community centre in Hillfields. With over 100 volunteers, we worked in primary and secondary schools, ran a community garden and an intercultural cooking project, ran women's, men's and dialogue events, and put on intercultural music and other arts events and festivals. We contributed to the national debate on community cohesion, and developed innovative, effective, straightforward methods for promoting intercultural dialogue and meaningful cross-cultural engagement.My work included:- Fund-raiser (fifty successful funding bids bringing in £500k)- Community Gardener (growing food and flowers in large raised beds in a publically accessible space directly outside our centre, which were never vandalised.)- Business Development lead (tendering for and delivering contracts worth £80k for Coventry City Council, Whitefriars Housing Association, the local Primary Care Trust, and Coventry University.)- Trainer (listening skills, welcoming skills, intercultural community work, working in multi-lingual environments, talking about racism in very diverse groups, engaging new people in public spaces, etc.)- Editor/Designer (proof-reading and layout of all public documents; a fund-raising cookbook; website content and design)- Public Event Deviser and Host (working with volunteers to run around a quarter of our 250 annual public events)- Supervisor, Book-keeper, Financial Manager, Company Secretary, Systems Administrator.External evaluation by the equalities think-tank BRAP in 2012 showed that our participants, volunteers, staff team and Board all consistently included a remarkably wide range of ethnicities, with no one group close to dominating. 70% of our participants said they had independently offered help or support to someone from a different background as a direct result of FHVP's work.

Delivering community circus workshops, and workshop series, in a variety of settings including in schools and sixth forms, with adults, with disabled young people and in an FE setting. As well as training people in circus skills, clown and devised performance, my particular role was to work with the participants throughout each workshop series to devise a final show, and then to act as ringmaster for this, showing off and celebrating each person's new skills, playing to their strengths, and drawing on and developing team work and co-operative endeavour.

Providing training and consultancy for local government officers and elected members in community engagement and consultation approaches, including I&DeA community engagement days for newly elected members from across the country, training RDA officers in community engagement and social class, and devising effective community engagement processes for a number of local authorities.Devising and running simulation packages, set in the fictional city of Sawcastle, for local authority elected members and high-level staff which were rolled out at I&DeA training events across the regions of England, including an accurate, if simplified, model of urban development developed with one of the UK's largest property developers, and a partnership-working simulation package .

I ran the Management Information Systems for Henley College Coventry - ensuring that all data on each student and each course was accurate and would stand up to audit by the LSC, which provided the bulk of the College's income (around £8 million) on receipt of satisfactory student and course data.I managed a team of eight staff providing data entry as well as data analysis for in-college management use, reported regularly to SMT meetings, and liaised with staff across all academic departments in order to see through a number of significant changes to college-wide course and student data collection processes.

Turning large amounts of student and course data into useful and timely information and statistics for both management and teaching staff use. I regularly used MS Excel, MS Access and VBA programming to automate a wide range of monthly reporting tasks, leading to much better information quality and timeliness, and a significantly increased capacity to provide ad hoc analysis for senior management as needed.

Founder member and director of this innovative co-operative consultancy providing Community Engagement, Community Development and Community Consultation services in the Midlands and across the UK. Devised and led consultation and engagement processes; identified and secured new work; ran internal systems and accounts; wrote reports effectively communicating complex data to a broad audience.This workers co-operative devised and ran community engagement processes and events mainly for city and town councils in the West Midlands Region and across England. We had a strong reputation for working with “hard-to-reach" groups (a wide range of BME groups, older people, people without good English skills, working-class white young people, etc.) As well as devising and facilitating community events (including participatory budgeting, village planning, Planning for Real and youth consultations), my duties included IT, publicity, and the presentation and communication of key information both to our "clients" (council officers and elected members) and to our participants - local people who often had little idea how local government worked.One of my key responsibilities was to engage swiftly with people from all walks of life in an area we were newly working in, as well as with lead officers and politicians in the relevant authority – another was to facilitate those people working together effectively, and with external experts and officers, to get concrete outcomes of benefit to the area, as well as to establish more effective working relationships with long-term beneficial effects.
