About Mark Estdale

Transforming voice performance in games, one word at a time. I spend time as a data, systems, software, bone gnawing researcher that works as a casting and performance director for games. I'm into creativity, love, connection and kindness,OMUK is three things: a recording studio and experimental R&D lab at the pioneering sharp end of producing performance content for games. And a space dedicated to caring for the beating heart of humanity. Our games work supports the humanity work.Creative Dialogue Tools (CDT) is a software toolset that transforms and liberates the #gamedev dialogue pipeline. CDT connects the creative and technical dots between script, actor and game, from early pre production through recording to integration.Since 1996, the data from from OMUKs extensive body of work has fed my research into the process and neuroscience of game performance capture and audience engagement. Digging deep into the psychology of the immersive relationship between script, performer and audience engagement has been a life transforming journey as it opened me up to the heart of who we are and how we relate to ourselves and each other as human beings.

Listed skills include Video Games, Sound Design, Sound, Film, and 45 others.

Creative Dialogue Tools (CDT) are time saving, stress reducing, quality improving middleware for video game voice content creators. The battle tested tools ease and empower every element of the voice production process: script writing, planning and costing, asset management, casting, voice recording, dialogue editing, mastering, Integration, QA and Localisation.

Oct 2011 - Present

Managing Director

Current

London, London, Gb

I founded OMUK in 1996 with a twin vision: 1. To cast and record voice content for video games that rivalled the best performances in other media. 2. To be a 'no holds barred' R&D lab to create production methods that truly match the needs of video games as opposed to blindly square-pegging games into studio design and practices first developed in the 1920s that serve the simplicity of radio, TV and film, but not the complexity of video games. The current OMUK studios in London are the results of 25 years of challenging everything. Data from 1,000 games have changed everything we do. The outcomes speaks for themselves.

President

Vault 501

The Vault is unique recording space designed and built ground up with the sole goal of 'liberating performers and performance for games.' The space, the tech, the thinking, the methods free game developers to realise their dreams.

Mar 2016 - Jul 2020

Studio Owner

Gb

Recording voice ensemble with physical performance is a passion. Having large controllable acoustic space for voice performance enables action to add nuance to performance that is frequently missed in games work. The studio made its mark with music production. Thanks to all who recorded there; for having in their music the sound of Kevin Bacon's great room: The Levellers, Jarvis Cocker, Fun Loving Criminals, Simply Red, The Lighthouse Family, The Longpigs, The Pretenders, Ian Brown, Neil Finn, Richard Hawley, Slow Club, Lulu, Take That, Pulp, Finley Quaye, Embrace, Dannii Minogue... the list goes on... but more than anything thanks to a great crew that dedicated so much to something very special: Mike Timm, Kit Challis and Glover.
