Graduated top in my year from the University of Bristol with a First Class Masters Degree in Computer Science. Whilst I am interested in all aspects of Computer Science, as the course has progressed I have been particularly drawn to the innovative fields of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. These relatively novel areas have great potential to influence a wide range of engineering and scientific issues.The ability to work as part of an effective team is critical to modern agile development in all areas of industry. During summer 2009 I completed an internship at Nokia Music’s UK Development Centre, where I enjoyed working as part of a team in a high pace environment. During summer 2010 I worked for a small company where my creative talents were given a commercial focus. In addition, for the past five years I have developed my own software company, attracting a strong client base. These experiences have given me an insight to industry at all levels.For the past 13 years I have regularly competed in the sport of fencing, to a national level, achieving a GB ranking high of 71st. Last year I was selected to represent England in the Student Five Nations Tournament. Bristol’s fencing club is in the premier division of the National Universities’ League. I have consistently been in the men’s 1st team, and was elected as club president in 2010, which encouraged me to develop as a dependable leader.I am able to bring many skills to the business world. As a dedicated, hardworking individual I feel equally at ease in a team situation, or when given the responsibility to perform independently.
