Host Development ManagerAutotxt Jun 2010 - Jul 2011Banbury, UkResponsible for the specification and delivery of the server based applications and web sites for Autotxt’s telematics based automotive services. Managed the host development team to ensure that quality applications were developed within agreed time scales. Configured, monitored and managed the production / staging environments. Whilst managing the team I implemented a number of applications using C#, ASP.NET, SQL 2005 / 2008, WCF, MSMQ, SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) and nHibernate.Managed the implementation of a stolen vehicle tracking used by a number of prestigious car manufacturers. The system had three externally facing web-sites; a customer portal to allow customers to manage their subscriptions, a site used by the Secure Operating Centre to manage alarms raised by the vehicle and a site to allow the embedded software for a specific vehicle to be upgraded.The web sites were written using a combination of ASP.NET 3.5, C#, XHTML, CSS, jQuery and AJAX. The web sites connected to the application layer via a number of WCF web services. The application layer utilised Fluent nHibernate to manage the schema that was hosted in SQL Server 2008. Security for specific entities was provided by Rhino Security. Unit testing was implemented using nUnit and was integrated with the automated build processes. -
Host Development EngineerAutotxt Oct 2008 - Jun 2010Banbury, UkAs part of a team of developers architected and implemented a fleet management system which provided real-time statistics for vehicles including fuel economy and distances travelled. This information was made available via a web portal for clients written in ASP.NET 3.5, C#, SQL Server 2005 and utilised .netTiers for the object-relational mapping layer.Implemented a prototype iOS application in Objective-C to allow remote control of a vehicle’s systems including electric windows and air conditioning. The iOS application communicated to a server via web services in the JSON format to allow real-time information to be displayed and commands to be sent to the vehicle.

The system consisted of an externally facing web site which was used by the Secure Operating Centre to handle alarms generated from the vehicles and a customer portal to allow customers to view journeys which could then be categorised and summarised. Mapping for users handling alarms and reverse geo-coding of positions was provided via integration with Virtual Earth and Bing.The web sites were implemented in ASP.NET 2.0, XHTML, CSS, C#, SQL Server 2005 and utilised .netTiers for the Object-Relational Mapping layer. The web sites communicated with a number of web services which provided the application layer. Implemented the prototype of a Windows CE based application to warn drivers of approaching hazards. The Windows CE application communicated with off-vehicle web services to download the details of hazards in real-time.
