I joined PLYSU straight from school and served a four-year electro / mechanical apprenticeship in all aspects of factory engineering. Once this training was complete I quickly became involved in a number of projects – building control panels, and writing programs for PLC’s. Working under various Project Engineers and alongside many electrical and mechanical contractors I developed a wide range of skills installing and commissioning a wide variety of electro / mechanical equipment. I was also responsible for the on site installation and commissioning of new blow-moulding machines for plastic milk containers at sites all over the UK, along with the installation of PLYSU’s £2 million plastic recycling facility at the MK Recycling centre in Wolverton, Milton Keynes.I also provided technical backup to PLYSU’s breakdown shift electricians, and helped to look after the PLC programming / fault finding side of their job. Other roles included the servicing / calibrating / repairing of electrical / electronic equipment, and the buying of parts and equipment for repairs and installation work.
