During my 30-year career as a stock trader, I made millions of dollars. But it wasn't enough. Unmitigated greed derailed my career and sent my life into a downward spiral. In May 2010, I was sentenced to a 15 year prison term in The Colorado Department of Corrections for racketeering and operating a Ponzi scheme. A mere six weeks into my sentence, I contracted necrotizing fasciitis, a deadly flesh eating disease that kills or maims most of its victims. Despite having to be resuscitated on a Flight for Life helicopter, I survived with life and limb intact. During a difficult six month recovery, I made the life altering decision to embrace my prison sentence and make a difference in people’s lives. I rose above the prison turmoil to become a tutor, helping over 100 inmates obtain their GED. In addition, I helped countless other inmates with other various challenges they encountered in their lives.I was released from prison after serving 4 years and 7 months. After a 9 month stint in a Denver halfway house, I was discharged to my home where I am now a parolee. I am not proud of the man I once was but I am proud of the man I have become. I am dedicating the rest of my life to improving the lives of others through my story. My story is about greed, survival, and redemption. It is not only a cautionary tale, but more so a powerful and inspirational message that can benefit anyone.
