After 15 years in Hollywood, I've now focused my talents on using VR to support mental health and substance use disorders.__FEATURE FILMS (VFX/DFX/CG Supervisor) : Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Polar Express, Narnia: Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, Evolution, Hollowman, Stuart Little, Wing Commander, Castaway, Men In Black II, Air Force One, X Files .. and Power Rangers__TV: (VFX Supervisor) Earth to the Moon, (On Set VFX Supervisor) Turn, Mercy Street, Good Behavior & DopesickVRIn 2015, I began exploring the worlds of 360 video and VR. I have filmed documentary work in 26 countries worldwide, created multiple Location Based Entertainment VR experiences in Dubai (that's me on top of the Burj Khalifa above), licensed series to AARP's Alcove VR app and more.In 2018, I began researching the use of VR in the Healthcare space and in 2019 co-founded Lighthouse XR. We have focused on Substance Use Disorder with the development of The Retreat platform and done additional work ranging from Senior Citizen engagement/isolation treatment to education/interventions for teens for suicide.BACKGROUNDOver 30 years in the world of computer graphics and video production.I started this journey as a senior online editor (commercials/music video/documentary) at a post house where I also started one of the nation's first 3D animation departments, - wrote code and created the industry’s first commercial RenderMan interface working with a little (at the time) company called Pixar. I then licensed the software to Boss Films, Warner Digital, Sony Pictures among others, - owned my own animation boutique, directed TV commercials (Chester Cheetos), did on set supervision for music videos (Van Halen) and commercials (Prell, Mercedes)...- wrote RenderMan shaders for a lot of people and ... - helped create groundbreaking feature film work at Boss Films, Square USA, Hollywood Digital, Sony Pictures and Starz Animation.- led teams that created the first Quidditch field in Harry Potter, the visual design of Polar Express and the talking wolves and foxes in the first Narnia movie. I have now come full circle and returned to my hometown, Richmond Virginia and started two companies, VArtisans and Lighthouse XR.

    Lighthouse has been collaborating with the Veterans Health Administration since 2020 on a VR based program called "The Retreat" to support Substance Use Disorder therapy. The Retreat is an open world immersive experience, a cabin on a lake, with 17 sessions covering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), coping and life strategies, SUD specific topics (triggers, relapse, etc), meditation and mindfulness training, "gamified" interactive learning and diversionary activities.
