I am an experienced advocate, business-minded strategist, and seasoned litigator -skills developed practicing intellectual property law for over 35 years. Since retiring from O'Melveny, I have continued advising the XQ Institute on a wide range of matters relating to reimagining high school education.In my retirement I am also serving on the Board of the Sun Valley Music Festival, woodworking (see www.memwood.shop), teaching skiing, and golfing.At O’Melveny I counseled clients on developing, securing, enforcing, and guarding their valuable intellectual property assets. Representing technology companies, large and small, I developed business-minded strategies that advanced my clients’ goals as they navigated the complexities of infringement and ownership disputes regarding intellectual property rights. Every entity has a brand; I counseled clients on the availability of brands and trademarks, the registration of trademarks, both foreign and domestic, and litigated trademark actions.My technical experience encompasses a range of fields: computer architecture and microarchitecture; microprocessors and other semiconductor devices (including graphics controllers, flash memory, programmable logic, FPGAs, switching power converters, and CCDs); analog circuits and devices; electronic design automation (EDA) tools, including emulators; semiconductor fabrication processes and equipment; and communications and network systems (including ADSL, 802.11, and Internet-based systems).
