I was leading a team of 65 people across various functions, in the UK and Ireland, including Sales, Marketing (including PR and sports marketing), SCM, Technical, Product Management, Training and Content and Services. I had full P&L responsibility for the Division during my time at Samsung. I personally devised the “Tocco” Smartphone range and the TTL advertising campaign that became the forerunner for “Galaxy”. I was instrumental in negotiating the Samsung Chelsea shirt sponsorship deal in 2004; initially Samsung Mobile branded. Other sponsorship deals were agreed with BSB, Harlequins and Arsenal FC. Samsung was the first manufacturer to succeed Nokia in terms of Market Share (c.30%), winning the converted Mobile News Awards - Best Manufacturer, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008 and Mobile – Best manufacturer 2004 and 2009.
